When mixed with alcohol

Some energy drinks contain alcohol, and if you consume them, you may feel physically and mentally weaker than before. Then, these energy drinks can assist your body in absorbing more alcohol than you can consume.

Some countries, including the United States, have outlawed the consumption of energy drinks laced with alcohol.

Other considerations

According to the May 2008 issue of the Journal of the American Pharmacists Association, energy drinks contain small amounts of amino acids, taurine, guarana, and ginseng. They cannot provide any health benefits or drawbacks.
