Dubai launched a facial recognition technology in the transportation sectors

Government stated on October 25 that, as the United Arab Emirates prepares to host the World Expo, Dubai is deploying a facial recognition system in the maritime industry to improve security.

The technology is excellent in identifying questionable individuals, according to Obaid Al Hatbuah, director of Dubai’s Transport and Security Department. Facial recognition systems are already in use in the United Arab Emirates’ international airports. Officials hope to transform Dubai into a technology and human intelligence development hub.

Earlier this week, police did a training akin to utilising facial recognition to detect gunmen who targeted a tube station, which the Crown Prince of Dubai stated was being overseen.

In the event of an attack, US-trained special forces would assist in evacuating passengers from the station before working with the control centre to catch the perpetrators.

The World Expo will be held for six months, beginning in October of next year. Special police will be stationed at tube stations throughout the trade fair. The UAE government earlier anticipated that the expo may attract 15 million people.
