Jaguar Prepares for Major Electric Comeback with Type 01 Debut

Jaguar is set to unveil its highly anticipated Jaguar Type 01 in New York, marking a pivotal moment in the British luxury automaker’s complete reinvention as an all-electric brand. The celebrity-packed debut brings forward the production bodywork and technical specifications of the high-performance electric GT.

A Bold Design and High-Performance Specs

The four-door Type 01 saloon features dramatic proportions, including a long bonnet that deliberately breaks away from the conventional shapes seen in many modern electric vehicles. Jaguar managing director Rawdon Glover described the project in a company statement: “We have reimagined Jaguar for a new era, with inspiration from what has gone before.”

Early previews have confirmed that the Type 01 will be powered by three electric motors capable of producing more than 1,000PS. Inside, the four-seat cabin features a slim dashboard, a low driving position, and a distinctive sculptural divider running the full length of the interior.

Navigating the Luxury EV Landscape

The high-profile debut in New York follows a heavy promotional campaign, including digital takeovers in Times Square featuring Jaguar’s new strikethrough graphic and a laser-etched version of its classic leaper emblem.

While Jaguar has previously shared camouflaged prototype photographs and interior previews, the final exterior styling remained closely guarded ahead of the official Tuesday evening event. Executives have defended the brand’s shift toward an exclusive electric-only lineup, noting that six-figure luxury buyers typically own multiple vehicles and prioritize emotional design, handling, and brand prestige over powertrain specifics.

Following the Type 01 saloon, Jaguar plans to introduce a coupe-style SUV and potentially a two-door coupe as part of its broader electrification strategy. Full details regarding pricing, exact driving range, charging performance, and delivery timelines are expected to be finalized as the vehicle moves toward its late 2026 production target.
