According to the Dooly County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), the shooting occurred at approximately 1:25 a.m. on Sunday, October 4, 2026. A crowd of more than 1,000 people had gathered along Pine Street in Vienna—located about two hours south of Atlanta—for a planned weekend homecoming block party.

Deputies were already stationed in the area to manage traffic when gunfire broke out near the 900 block of Pine Street. Authorities immediately responded to the gunfire and discovered multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Two individuals located in the 600 block of Pine Street were pronounced dead at the scene.

Thirty-five other people sustained injuries during the chaos and were transported to various regional hospitals for medical treatment. Witnesses described scenes of panic and confusion as attendees fled the gunfire.

Ongoing Investigation and Response

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Dooly County Sheriff’s Office are leading the inquiry into the shooting. Law enforcement officials have not yet released the identities of the deceased or detailed potential suspects, noting that the investigation remains active and developing.
